Next Steps for Seniors: Support for Post-Grad Plans
|
Feature by: Career & Community Engagement Center
|
The 2025 Commencement ceremony is less than 90 days away—Sunday, May 25!
|
As graduation approaches, many seniors find themselves asking, “What’s next?”
Whether they have a clear path in mind or are still exploring options, the Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC) is here to support seniors as they take those next steps. Through the Career Coaching initiative, seniors have access to one-on-one career coaching appointments, exclusive senior programming, and essential resources to help them navigate those first several steps of life after Whitman.
Throughout their time at Whitman, career coaches provide structured support for students to explore future career paths, build experience, connect with mentors and refine their post-grad goals. Now, in year four, seniors have support to look ahead and get ready to launch.
With personalized guidance from a dedicated Career Coach, seniors can:
|
- Develop a strategic plan for their job search or graduate school applications.
- Explore and identify future fellowships or grants to support continued study or exploration.
- Fine-tune their resume, cover letter and interview skills.
- Tap into networking opportunities with Whitman alumni and industry professionals.
- Gain access to valuable career-building resources and events.
|
No matter where students are in their process, their career coach is available to help them navigate the journey ahead.
To make career planning even easier, the Next Steps for Seniors website serves as a centralized hub for essential resources, guides, and information tailored specifically for graduating seniors. Students will find expert advice on resume writing, interview preparation, last-mile skill building, networking and more.

Although the days are getting longer and lighter again, it can still be difficult at times to see people who are crossing the street. The Office of Security would like to take this time to remind everyone about pedestrian safety. On average, a pedestrian is killed every two hours and injured every eight minutes in traffic crashes in the United States. The Whitman campus is intertwined with public streets and can pose a risk to those not paying attention or following the law.
Please observe the following pedestrian safety tips:
|
- Cross streets at crosswalks or intersections.
- Don’t be a distracted walker.
- Heads up, phones down.
- Wait until all vehicles have come to a complete stop.
- Make eye contact before the crossing.

Your safety is our priority!

Student Healthy Minds Survey
|
Whitman College is currently administering the national Healthy Minds Survey to all students. Look for an email from Dean of Students Kazi Joshua with a link to the survey. The results will provide us with a comprehensive picture of mental health and related issues at Whitman. More student responses mean better information from the survey, and better information from the survey will help us best evaluate our ability to meet student needs and to evaluate our existing programs. Participants will have the opportunity to win one of four $250 gift cards and one of ten $100 gift cards.
