Student-Athletes Make Their Fifth Year Count

This year, five Blues student-athletes who started college in 2020 opted to use their extra year of NCAA eligibility to stay on at Whitman College and pursue unique opportunities—on the court, on the field and in the classroom.

Staff Member Serves as Civics Bee Judge
|
For the second year in a row, Noah Leavitt, Co-Director for the Career and Community Engagement Center for External Affairs and College Liaison for Community Affairs, is serving as a judge for the National Civics Bee, sponsored by the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce. Students in grades 6–8 compete for recognition, cash prizes and a chance to participate in the national championship in the fall.

Whitman Events Board (WEB) will present a “Stuff-a-Plush and Jewelry Making” event on Friday, Feb. 14, from 3–5 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center lower level. Create a handmade gift for a friend, someone special or keep it for yourself! (Flyer attached.)
WEB will also present a “Valentine’s Day De-Stress/Rage Room” event on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 3–5 p.m. on the Reid Campus Center side lawn. Release your frustrations, sadness or any other pent-up emotion! (Flyer attached.)

Community Engagement Leadership Applications Due Sunday

The Career and Community Engagement Center is currently looking to fill nine community engagement student leadership positions for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year. Applications are due on Handshake by end of day on Sunday, Feb. 16. (Flyer attached.)

As a reminder, Monday, Feb. 17, is a staff holiday and classes will not be in session. Most offices and the Bookstore will be closed. Whitman Today will also not be published on Monday.

Stationery Portal Opens Next Week

The twice-yearly opportunity to get bulk pricing on Whitman-branded stationery is nearly here! Place your orders while the online portal is open between Tuesday, Feb. 18, and Tuesday, March 4. Estimated delivery is Wednesday, April 16. As a reminder, your portal login information is not the same as your Whitman login. Questions? At the beginning of February, the Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership Office hosted LeaderShape’s Catalyst, a program to develop leadership skills in students. A total of 47 first-years, sophomores and juniors participated in a day of interactive activities designed to reframe leadership as more than just a title, but rather as a collection of behaviors.
